Tanger Outlet Food Truck Outreach Event

Mountains to the Sea Ministries and Storms of Life Fellowship set up a tent at the Food Truck event located at Tanger Outlet in Daytona Beach Florida on April 24th, 2022. It was a hot day but the breeze was refreshing!

M2Sea gave away educational literature, crosses, Bibles and suicide, depression & PTSD awareness booklets. We also passed out connection cards for a couple local churches. Pastor Nick was available for instant prayer and Pastor Chrissy was giving out free hugs. Several volunteers came to help with the set up and tear down. Our Super Star volunteer Spot light shined on 2 of our most dedicated volunteers! Kris and Mozel.

Where do you find your identity?

This was Pastor Nick’s sermon last week. It’s one that has really made me think. Where Do You Find Your Identity? Is that a crazy question? How many of us are secure in who we are in Christ so that the worldly labels do not define us? I remember after going through a particularly difficult depression, thinking I had lost my identity. I woke up one day and was no longer a manager in the workforce. I realized my job title had become part of my identity because I had done it for so longer. I had driven to the same location for years and performed the same job functions for so long, it had become my identity. Whether it was right or wrong, it happened. I knew better, but still allowed it to develop. Now, if an identity crisis can occur in someone that had a firm foundation in Christ, how much more could this occur to others? Please read on and allow the Pastor’s scriptures to bring life back into your identity – Chrissy

Romans 12:2 NKJV – And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Galatians 1:1-10 NKJV – Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead), and all the brethren who are with me, To the churches of Galatia: Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

Colossians 3:1-17 NKJV – If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all. 12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 NKJV –  Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 Peter 2:9-17 NKJV – But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. 11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation. 13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— 16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

What Matters Most

This message was shared by Pastor Nick in the Storms of Life Fellowship Meeting last Sunday evening. It’s a powerful message backed by scripture. It’s one of those head-scratcher messages that really make you think.

What Matters Most To You?

Matthew 6:19-20 NKJV – 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

What Takes Up Most Of Your Time?

  • Work
  • Family
  • Hobbies
  • Church
  • Bible
  • Prayer

Matthew 6:24 NKJV – 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

What Takes Up Most Of Your Thoughts?

  • See List Above
  • Worry
  • Fear
  • Hope
  • Love

Matthew 6:25-34 NKJV –
25
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Where Do You Put Your Trust?

Matthew 14:25-32 NKJV –

25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” 28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

What Have You Given To God?

Matthew 19:27-30 NKJV

27 Then Peter answered and said to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?” 28 So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

Romans 12:1-2 NKJV

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

True Cost Of Discipleship

Luke 9:23-26 NKJV

23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.

Romans 8:12-17 is provided as additional reading.

Lucky or Blessed?

What is Luck?

Luck is defined by Merriam-Webster as a noun & a verb.

  • Luck as a noun: a force that brings good fortune or adversity
  • Luck as a verb: to prosper or succeed especially through chance or good fortune

Wikipedia defines luck: “Luck is the phenomenon and belief that defines the experience of notably positive, negative, or improbable events. The naturalistic interpretation is that positive and negative events may happen all the time, both due to random and non-random natural and artificial processes, and that even improbable events can happen by random chance.”

Is Luck in the Bible?

No, luck is not in the Bible. There are no references to being “Lucky” or have good or bad luck in the Bible.

Is being blessed and being lucky the same thing?

No, being blessed and being lucky are not the same thing.

Let’s look at the definition of blessed to help us determine the difference.

A 4 leaf clover can’t compare to Jeremiah 29:11

What does it mean to be blessed?

Dictionary.com defines blessed as an adjective meaning : 1. consecrated; sacred; holy; sanctified. 2. worthy of adoration, reverence, or worship. 3. divinely or supremely favored; fortunate. 4. blissfully happy or contented. 5. bringing happiness and thankfulness.

Another definition of blessed is: a: held in reverence b: honored in worship c: of or enjoying happiness – specificallyChristianity

As you can see, these 2 words mean completely different things.

As a Christian, we are favored by our Father in Heaven. This favor is often referred to as a Blessing. The Bible teaches us about Blessings.

Where can I read about Blessings in the Bible?

The words Bless, Blessed, and Blessing are used over 400 times in the bible according to someone online who spent a lot of free time counting. I trust that it is used a great number of times, but have never personally counted. You can find blessings in the bible from Genesis to Revelation. I will however share a few of my favorites with you!

  • Deuteronomy 11:26-28 is a great example of how our Lord God used “Blessing” as a reward for obedience – 26 See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse— 27 the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today28 the curse if you disobey the commands of the Lord your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.
  • Numbers 6:22-27 is a good example of how God taught us to bless: 22 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: 24 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’ 27 “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”
  • Psalm 20:4 is a great way to pray a blessing over others: May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, And fulfill all your purpose.

Super Sunday for Super Saints

Super Sunday for Super Saints was a success yesterday! Sponsored by Mountains to the Sea Ministries and Emmanuel Church of the Living God. We had a blast! Thank you to everyone in the community that came to celebrate with us.

Super Sunday for Super Saints was Super Celebration located at 54 S Ridgewood Ave, Ormond Beach, 32174. We celebrated in the fellowship hall. This is the same location where our Storms Of Life Fellowship meetings are held each Sunday at 6:30 pm.

Thank you to everyone in the community that came to fellowship with us.

From Sea to Sea

They found themselves in Ormond Beach, tired and in need of a shower. They thought about sleeping in their car again since they were only here for a couple nights. They were hungry for the God and the Word. Everything they owned was loaded in that car.

They called the ministry for spiritual guidance and the pastors spoke with them an extended amount of time. They were joyful after the long conversation and grateful for the fellowship most of all. Pastor Nick prayed over a valuable life and lodging was secured. They were invited to church, fed, and gas tank filled up. Finally, they were on their way again to their destination.

This family asked us to thank the donors that helped them in such a huge way. The donor was you!

Just passing through

We are all just passing through this life one day at a time. But do we stop to smell the roses, see the sunrise or sunset and appreciate the beauty we are surrounded by?

Good Morning Lord! Thank you for waking me up!

The Lord peppers visual treats throughout our day, but do we notice them?

Embrace the day. Mountains to the Sea Ministries

Homeless Addicted Veteran to Recovered Disciple of Jesus

We love to share success stories with you and this one is beautiful indeed.

He was a veteran suffering from PTSD and coping with life the only way he knew how: Self Medicating. He would self medicate with alcohol, drugs, or anything else that would temporarily ease or numb the thoughts that plagued his mind after the service. He self medicated his way out of his home, his job, and his life as usual.

I Need Help! Mountains2sea.org

He found himself on the streets in Daytona Beach, homeless, alone and unsure of life. He knew there had to be better; there had to be more. He had tried the “recovery thing” before and it would last for a little while, but somehow he always made his way back to the bottle. This time would be different though. This time, he sought the only true higher power – Jesus Christ.

First, he got off the street and into a sober house. Then he entered into discipleship (sponsorship) with one of the pastors at Mountains to the Sea Ministries. He set up several mentoring sessions and began a new walk. Mountains to the Sea Ministries provided him with food, assistance with shelter, and helped get his phone turned back on. His M2Sea mentor provides transportation for him to meetings and church services regularly. They talk everyday and read the bible together.

As his relationship with Christ is growing, his circumstances are improving. He is beginning to share the love of Jesus with others. He needed transportation to apply for work, so the Pastor provided him with a monthly bus pass. Within days, he was hired at a local eatery and is contributing to the community and economy.

Being able to contribute, give back or serve others seems like such a tiny thing to some people, but it’s huge in recovery. You see, the labels he wore have been erased by Grace.

His PTSD has not completely disappeared, but he is learning how to take it to the foot of the cross and leave it there. He is healthier, happier, and best of all sober and saved! He is grateful to everyone who has helped him along his journey. Although he has come a long way, he still has a long way to go.

When you donate to Mountains to the Sea Ministries, you become part of someone’s story. You provide assistance through a vetted process to help deliver Veterans, Widows, widowers and many others an opportunity to get back on their feet.
